Gran Cru Chevalier Montrachet

Vineyard
Description: According to legend, Mr. Montrachet divided his land between his two sons. One became a knight (chevalier) and fought in the crusades, whereas the other, a bastard son (bâtard), gave Bâtard-Montrachet its name. The Chevalier-Montrachet appellation of origin is a horizontal stretch of land at the top of the upper part of Montrachet. It comprises four terraces with different subsoils that give this exceptional Grand Cru four different expressions. During the 19th century, the winery bought several vineyards, and today it is the main proprietor and only producer to own vineyards on all four terraces.

Tasting note: Refined nose with fruit and floral aromas and a delicate toasty note. Rich and complex, but not heavy in any way, this wine is elegance personified. Excellent aging potential.
Serving suggestion: Fish in sauce, foie gras, elegant starters.
Aging potential: 7–10 years or more
Barrel aging: 12–13 months in French oak barrels, up to 15% new depending on the vintage.
Bottle aging: The cellars in the bastions of the old Château de Beaune provide perfect conditions. Thanks to their natural humidity and constant temperature, the cellars offer an ideal environment in which the Grands Crus can mature serenely from a young age.
